1949, The Cold War tears Germany into two halves. Here, at the interface between East and West, the Federal Republic and the GDR face each other bitterly. Who is more successful in rebuilding the country that lies in ruins? Who makes its people happier? Will the urge for freedom sweep away the GDR and thus pave the way for reunification? Or will socialism triumph?

East against West. As a player you take on the Federal Republic or the GDR. Build up your economy with clever use of action cards and enter the race for higher living standards. If you lose it, you will soon be faced with unrest. You should also never lose sight of the tug of war for international recognition.

"We are the people" recapitulates the history of a divided Germany, from the Airlift to the fall of the Wall. With his 84 individually designed action cards, no two games are alike. Is the East building the Wall? Or is it getting a different grip on the escape from the Republic? Many strategies are possible; precise planning is trumps. But beware! Even the best plan can be thwarted by the oil crisis or the Monday demonstrations. Then mass protests threaten - and defeat.
