Particularly noteworthy about this functional and beautiful wooden table clock model is the spinning tourbillon, which is attached to the upper part. In wristwatches and pocket watches, the tourbillon mechanism helps increase their accuracy by counteracting the effects of gravity when the watch is motionless in one position. By placing the escape wheel and balance wheel in a rotating cage, minor rate deviations caused by gravity are compensated for.
The stargazer tourbillon mechanism has three axes of rotation: about the vertical axis of the watch, the horizontal axis of the watch, and in relation to the central axis of the inner sphere. The windable watch works on the basis of accumulation of potential energy in a flat spring and metered release of this energy.
