Root is an adventure and war game in which 2 to 4 players (6 with the Riverfolk expansion) battle for control of a vast wilderness.

The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great forest to reap her riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have united. This alliance will seek to strengthen their resources and undermine Cat's rule. In this effort, the alliance may enlist the help of the wandering vagabonds, who are able to move through the more dangerous forest trails. Although some may sympathize with the Alliance's hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey that once ruled the forests.

This is the latest Root version, which corresponds to the third and fourth printings in the English Root version
