Die "Dame mit Fächer" gehört zu den beiden letzten Gemälden, die Gustav Klimt gemalt hat. Das Bild stand noch auf der Staffelei im Atelier des Künstlers, als Klimt verstarb.
1994 wurde das Gemälde um über 10 Millionen US-Dollar versteigert.
