The Illyrians inhabited the coastline of the Adriatic Sea, covering a region that includes the modern countries of Croatia, Bosnia and Herzogovina, Slovenia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Serbia and Albania. Regarded as bloodthirsty and unpredictable by the Greeks and Romans, the Illyrians were regarded as renowned warriors, skilled craftsmen and shipbuilders, and employed weapons like the sica against their enemies.
