The Lords of Middle-earth is an expansion for the board game The War of the Rings, 2nd Edition. It brings new mechanisms and strategies to the game, inspired by events and characters that do not appear in Tolkien's work or play only a minor role.

Central characters from The Lord of the Rings, previously only represented on cards, now get their own figures and rules. And some characters from the basic game get an alternate guise here.

Game content:

• 3 special action cubes of the Keepers of the Elven Rings
• 2 special action cubes of the Minions
• 6 new plastic figures (Elrond; Galadriel; Balrog of Moria; Gothmog; Witch-King, Lord of the Ringwraiths; Sauron's Mouth, Black Númenor)
• 2 bonus plastic figures (Aragorn, Heir of Isildur; Gandalf the White)
• 11 cardboard markers and tokens
• 1 Sméagol special event card "We will have him"
• 3 new companion cards: Elrond, Galadriel, Sméagol
• 7 alternate companion cards: Boromir, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, Meriadoc, Peregrin, Strider
• 2 new Minions cards: Balrog of Moria and Gothmog
• 2 alternative Minions cards: Sauron's Mouth and the Witch King, Lord of the Ringwraiths
• 13 new event cards (6 for the Free Peoples, 7 for the Shadow)
• 1 game rule
